2Who carries the risk, and who is licensed to sell it
SamWill is a funeral director. We are not an insurer and we are not a licensed financial services provider. When you take out funeral cover through this website, two other regulated businesses stand behind it:
- Administered by
- AMOR BROKERS, an authorised financial services provider, FSP 52097
- Underwritten by
- Safrican Insurance Company Limited — a licensed long-term insurer, which carries the risk and pays the claim
- Professional indemnity
- Details of the provider's cover — to be confirmed. Please telephone us in the meantime.
You may confirm any financial services provider’s licence with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority at fsca.co.za, using the FSP number above.
3No advice is given on this website
The application on this website is execution only. We set out what each plan covers and what it costs, and you choose. Nobody assesses your circumstances, and nothing on this site is financial advice or a recommendation that a particular plan is suitable for you.
If you would like advice before deciding, telephone us on 021 203 5379 and we will put you in touch with an authorised representative who can give it.
4What it costs
Premiums are shown in full on the funeral cover page, per month, in South African rand. There are no application fees, no administration fees and no broker fees. The premium shown is the amount that will be collected from your account, and nothing else is added to it.
Premiums may be reviewed by the insurer from time to time. You will be told in writing before any change takes effect.
5How you pay
Premiums are collected monthly by debit order. We do not accept cash.
When you apply, you sign a debit order mandate authorising us to collect your premium on the debit day you choose. Every collection appears on your bank statement, and your bank will help you dispute a debit order you did not authorise.
6Changing your mind
You may cancel a new policy in writing within 31 days of receiving the policy document, at no cost, provided no benefit has been paid and no event has occurred for which a claim could be made. Any premium already collected will be refunded.
The debit order mandate itself may be cancelled at any time on 20 ordinary working days’ written notice. Cancelling the mandate does not by itself cancel the policy — please tell us if you intend to end the cover.
7Waiting periods
A waiting period applies to death from natural causes. It is shown against each plan before you apply. Accidental death is covered from the day the policy starts, with no waiting period.
On every plan, death by suicide is not covered in the first 24 months from the day the policy starts.
If you already hold funeral cover with another insurer and have completed its waiting period, tell us when you apply. Where the rules allow it, we will not make you serve that waiting period again. We will ask for your existing policy schedule as proof.
8Professional membership and code of conduct

9If something goes wrong
Please tell us first — most things are quickest to fix directly. Our full complaints procedure, and the ombuds you may approach if we do not resolve it, are set out on the complaints page.
In short: FAIS Ombud for complaints about how a product was sold, and the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa for complaints about a claim.
