What do I do when someone passes away in Cape Town?

Telephone us on 021 203 5379 during office hours, or 071 866 5175 at any other time. You do not need to have anything prepared. Tell us where your loved one is — at home, in hospital, or at the state mortuary — and we will come and bring them into our care.

How much does funeral cover cost?

Accepted Answer

SamWill funeral plans start at R160 a month for R15 000 of cover, and run to R280 a month for R30 000. A plan covers you, your spouse and up to eight children.

How long before funeral cover pays out?

Accepted Answer

Accidental death is covered from the first day. Death from natural causes is covered once the waiting period has passed — six months on the main plans, and nine months on Ancestry.

Does SamWill arrange the funeral, or only pay out?

We arrange and conduct the funeral ourselves. We have our own mortuary, our own parlour and our own fleet, so the family is not handed a payment and left to organise everything alone.

Can SamWill take my loved one home to the Eastern Cape?

Yes. We carry families home to the Eastern Cape and across the country ourselves, with the paperwork completed and the cost agreed with you beforehand.

How long has SamWill Funeral Service been going?

SamWill was registered on 1 July 2017 by brothers Ramone Samuels and Damian Willemse, and began trading sixteen days later from a small office in Strand. We opened our own mortuary in 2020. The business is led today by Ramone Samuels and his wife Michelle.

SamWill Funeral Service is a full member of the National Funeral Directors Association, and is bound by its code of conduct. Our funeral cover is underwritten by Safrican and brokered by AMOR Brokers, FSP 52097.
